February—the month of flowers, candy, valentines, and love. All good stuff, although I believe it’s the month that men dread the most, because let’s face it--most men don’t possess a single romantic bone in their bodies.
It’s with this thought in mind that I have a suggestion. In a recent article I read, it stated that kindness is catchy. The writer didn’t exactly use those terms, but that was the gist of it. For instance, when a person in a drive-thru pays for the coffee order of the car behind him, the recipient is more likely to pay it forward to another person. We touch others through kindness, and as a bonus, we feel good about it. Joyful.
So, here’s my idea: instead of waiting for the significant other in your life to reveal their love to you with a mushy card, flowers, or candy, be proactive—be the first one to act. Take the initiative to show a little love and kindness to your loved one, or even to a complete stranger. Then stand back and watch it ricochet back to you in joy. Report back to me about your unprompted act of kindness you bestowed upon someone, as well as that person’s reaction, and yours. The one with the most creative idea will receive a prize from me—and it won’t be a box of candy.
Warmly,
